Getting music in

iPhone and iPad
Tap Import Files and choose songs in the Files app. You can also open an audio file with LocalTune from another app. LocalTune copies each file into its library; the original stays where it was.
Mac
Drag songs or whole folders from Finder onto the LocalTune window, or use Choose Files. A folder brings in every song inside it.
Formats
MP3, M4A/AAC, ALAC, FLAC, WAV, AIFF and CAF. Songs protected by streaming services or DRM (such as .m4p) cannot be imported.
Duplicates
The same file is stored once, even if you import it again.

Lyrics

Synced (LRC) and plain-text (TXT) lyrics are supported. On a song, open Lyrics and choose Import Lyrics. On Mac, a lyrics file with the same name as the song is attached automatically when you drop a folder. Some MP3 files already contain lyrics, which LocalTune shows. Use Adjust Sync if the lines run early or late.

Device Sync

  1. On your Mac, open LocalTune Settings, turn on Device Sync and choose Add Device to show a pairing QR code.
  2. On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings in LocalTune, choose Device Sync, and scan the Mac's QR code.
  3. Keep both devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Songs, playlists and lyrics then sync directly between them, encrypted, with no cloud service.

If sync stops, open LocalTune on both devices, check that they are on the same network, and choose Sync Now. If a pairing code has expired, choose Add Device again on the Mac.

Sample albums

On an empty library, Explore with sample albums adds four short albums (16 songs, with synced lyrics and three playlists) that are included in the app. The music was made with AI (Suno) for LocalTune. Delete them anytime like any other song; they are not added again.

Deleting

Deleting a song removes LocalTune's copy and its playlist entries; your original file is untouched. Deleting a playlist keeps its songs. Deleting the app removes all of its data from that device.

Requirements

iOS and iPadOS 26 or later; macOS 26 or later. LocalTune works offline; no account is needed.
